Mud House 2010 Central Otago Pinot Noir
The Mud House Central Otago Pinot Noir 2010 is deep crimson red, with aromas of bright red fruit flavours with a burst of spicy notes. The bold dark fruit flavours fill the front palate and meld perfectly with the savoury spice oak notes. Fine acid gives the wine lovely structure punctuated by polished fruit and oak tannins. Food match: Perfect with duck or roast lamb.
About the BrandNamed after a mud block house built in the founding vineyard, the Mud House Wine Company produced its first wines in 1996, growing from 300 cases to over 90,000 today. Mud House Wines is now owned by four New Zealand families.
At the Mud House, they craft wines using a combination of technology and traditional winemaking methods with the courage to do things their way. Mud House nurture their vineyards throughout New Zealand so that the grapes reach optimum ripeness, ensuring varietal character and flavour.
After harvesting, the grapes are transported to the winery and crushed with minimal skin contact to avoid juice deterioration. After cold settling, each batch is cool fermented in stainless steel using a variety of cultured yeasts to add complexity to the blend and to retain fresh fruit characteristics. The Australian born winemaker, Nadine Worley, has been at Mudhouse for 5 years.
