'The 18 and 25 years old expressions are both sublime and very classy. The quality, depth and complexity of aroma, flavour and character that each demonstrates are superb.' (whiskyforeveryone.com, 2014)
Official bottlings of Mortlach have been few and far between in years past, but in 2014, that has changed. This is the 18 year old single malt Scotch whisky from Mortlach, released in 2014 as part of a new range from the distillery, alongside the Rare Old, the 25 Year Old and the Special Strength. Matured in a combination of Sherry and refill American oak casks, the Mortlach 18 Year Old is presented in a very striking bottle with a distinctive metal framework at its base.
About the Brand
Established in 1823 during an age of great achievement, Mortlach was the first legal distillery in Dufftown, the heart of Speyside. A 190 year secret amongst whisky epicureans across the globe, Mortlach has been nicknamed 'The Beast of Dufftown' by Dave Broom for its robust, muscular and rich character created from the very unique 2.81 distillation process - a magnificent feat unto itself.
Refined, complex and clegant, Mortlach Rare Old, Special Strength, 18 and 25 each personify a decadent illustration of what Mortlach Distillery is known and beloved for.

On the nose, delicate at first with the light fruity aroma of fresh green apples, giving way to a savoury core suffused with candied sweetness. To taste, ccautious and creamy at first, with flashes of intense sweetness before an espresso coffee note develops. This is Mortlach at its most robust.
