Moët & Chandon Grand Vintage Rose 2006 Champagne
Lots of great things were happening in 2006, namely the sensational Helen Mirren won an Oscar for her role in Queen Elizabeth II, but over in the tranquil vineyards of the Champagne region, Moët & Chandon’s 40th vintage Rosé, the Grand Vintage 2006 was created and this has pipped Helen to the top of the list in our view.
Moët & Chandon Grand Vintage Rosé 2006 Champagne is a mature and generous wine, described by the house as ‘powerful, expansive and gracious’. Unlike most champagnes, these Grand Vintages are made from the grapes of a single exceptional year, meaning that each Grand Vintage is unique. The Grand Vintage is the cellar master’s own interpretation to embrace the singular qualities of that year’s grapes. Grand Vintage Rosé 2006 is the perfect embodiment of the Moët & Chandon Grand Vintage spirit, a spirit founded on three essential values; freedom of interpretation, selection of the year’s most remarkable wines, individuality of the vintage to create champagnes distinguished by their maturity, complexity and charisma.
Pinot Noir (47%), Chardonnay (33%), Pinot Meunier (20%)

It's powerful and warm, with aromas of biscuit and gingerbread followed by stone fruit like cherries and plums before subtle scents of rosemary, saffron and dried rose. It has vibrant, punchy and long-lasting flavours of fruit, and an almost savoury quality at the end - really enjoyable.
