Macallan Sienna 1824 Malt Whisky

The Macallan 1824 Series is exclusively matured in sherry oak casks from Jerez, Spain. These casks are filled with aged sherries and left to mature before receiving the new make spirit. The third darkest and third most expensive bottling in the no age statement, sherry matured 1824 Series from The Macallan. Sienna is a naturally occuring pigment, referring not only to the hue of this expression but to the fact that The Macallan's whiskies are all released with no added colouring.

Warm sienna coloured spirit. Subtle vanilla followed by zesty, sharp orange, which turns to green apples and white chocolate truffles. This is the best of the 1824 Series in my opinion. The Ruby is a little nicer, but I always factor in price when reviewing a bottle, and this is the best value. The Gold and Amber are not as nice as the 12 year old, and thus not worth buying.

Amazingly smooth.
