One of only 1500 bottles produced, the Littlemill 2015 Private Cellar Edition is a limited edition release, which gives connoisseurs the opportunity to acquire a piece of Lowland Whisky history. A real collectors item.
Littlemill passed through the hands of several individuals and businesses until it was aquired by Glen Catrine in the 1990s. However, the distillery fell silent in 1994 and was destroyed by a fire in 2004, never to produce a drop again. Happily, the spirit lives on in our sought-after bottlings.
The nose kicks off with vibrant and vivacious waves of vanilla, followed by a sumptuous swathe of sherry soaked sultanas, forest fruits and a harmonious hum of spiced honey. Oodles of opulent oak help to provide a belting bounty of balance
The palate is a thick, creamy and gentle layered dram with a good pinch of spices all underlined with a smokey nature from some peat that’s been used to dry the barley. The autumn fruit stew is there with a dollop of clotted cream.
The finish goes on for a really long time, it’s warming and rather sublime with wood tannins coming out easily, not interrupting the dram but instead working for it.
