d'Arenberg 2009 The Cadenzia

Intense red cherry appearance when poured suggests a full bodied complex dry red. Intense red cherry, cranberry, kirsch notes appear with a subtle background of pepper, stone fruit kernels and nutty spiced oak. The palate is full and lush dominated with red fruits intertwined with meaty potpourri characters, savoury dry herb notes and rounded soft tannins balanced with silky acidity.

This wine is a blend of 3 grape varieties - 50% Grenache, 45% Shiraz and 5% Mourvedre

It is a great match with grilled sausages, smoked meat & roast venison.

About the Brand

Based in the heart of the McLaren Vale, d'Arenberg is now run by 4th generation Chester Osborn - 2012 is their 100th anniversary year! d’Arenberg is one of the most significant wineries in McLaren Vale. The winemaking processes of the past have been maintained, capturing the unique small-batch character of the wines and the true flavour of the McLaren Vale region. All grapes, red and white, are basket-pressed. The reds are still traditionally fermented with the grape skins (caps) submerged in open wax-lined concrete fermenters utilising the age-old technique of foot-treading.
