Cloudy Bay 2011 Pinot Noir
The Cloudy Bay Pinot Noir 2011 captures your senses with immense florals including violets, boronia and flowering wild thyme. Raspberry liquorice entices further along with wild strawberry, dark cherries, tobacco and spice. The palate is juicy but balanced by rich forest floor, clove and savoury flavours. Good tension between acid and fine tannins offers a well rounded palate with appealing length. 2011 was an ideal flowering season, resulting in luscious classic Marlborough flavours.Food Match: Spicy grilled or smoked duck breast, slow cooked pork belly, grilled portabello mushrooms and rack of venison.
About the BrandThe vineyards of Cloudy Bay are located at superior sites throughout the Marlborough region to maximise the considerable diversity that exists in micro-climates and soil types. The different sites provide nuances of aroma and flavour, bringing complexity to the wines. Cloudy Bay is primarily noted for its Sauvignon Blanc wines, and has played an important pioneering role in establishing New Zealand's and Marlborough's reputation. Cloudy Bay's first commercial vintage was produced in 1985 from purchased grapes, and the company later planted its own vineyards. It was one of the first New Zealand wines to be widely exported and came to attention because of its fruit-forward style and very pronounced varietal character.

Ripe and exuberant blackberry aromas. Intensely fruity palate, with black cherry and bramble notes plus delicate layer of vanilla oak, especially on finish. Alcohol is well balanced by the concentration of fruit and refreshing acidity. Very long, with plenty of oak but still a streak of fruit right to the end.
