Drinks21 are proud to supply a selection of award-winning wines through our online shop. Four of the wines we supply won Gold in the Sommelier Wine Awards 2013, whilst the Moët et Chandon not only won Gold but also won Bronze in the International Wine Challenge 2013.

Our gold selection of wines (all available at affordable prices) are as follows:

Concha y Toro Late Harvest Sauvignon Blanc (£60 for 12x37.5cl), CVNE Vina Real Gran Reserva 2005 (£22), Lourensford Winemakers Selection Chardonnay 2011 (£12), Moet et Chandon Brut Imperial NV (£36)

The Concha y Toro Late Harvest Sauvignon Blanc is created from Sauvignon Blanc grapes, which are left out long after the others have been harvested, to attain higher levels of sweetness in the Mediterranean climate of Maule Valley. This wine is golden yellow with amber tones. To taste, you will experience flavours of ripe papaya, peach, spice and honeyed aromas. The palate is light, fresh and fruity with a long, subtle, honeyed finish. This Concha y Toro is perfect on its own or as an after dinner treat – recommended with white chocolate brûlée or caramelised fruits.

If red is more your style, then the CVNE Vina Real Gran Reserva 2005 is the Gold award-winning choice! This wine is a deep, ruby red in colour, with a very intense and complex nose including aromas of candied fruits and nuts. Full-bodied on the palate with sweet tannins, this is an excellent wine with character and elegance, where hallmarks of its origin are highlighted (Rioja Alavesa). A great match with grilled and roasted red meats, casseroles/stews, mature strong cheeses and spicy, green pepper sauce.

The Lourensford Winemakers Selection Chardonnay 2011 is an exotic and full-bodied South African wine, with the aroma of gooseberry and fresh apricot together with a dusting of vanilla spice from partial barrel fermenting. The lusciously fruity palate is well balanced with enough acidity, plus a delicate, spicy oak and a long, rich finish. Competitively priced at £12 per bottle, this wine provides an excellent match with white meats, especially roast chicken.

Last but by no means least, we have the Moet et Chandon Brut Imperial NV, arguably the most famous of the Gold award-winning wines. Available in cases of 6 or as an individual bottle online. Moet et Chandon is the world’s leading Champagne brand. With access to the region's most extensive vineyards and centuries of expertise, the Moët & Chandon name guarantees excellence and consistent quality. A harmonious blend of all three grape varietals and reserve wines contribute to this fantastic Champagne. Brut Imperial is a subtle, dry-style Champagne, pale yellow in colour with shades of green. Consisting of predominantly Pinot characteristics, which are very ample on the palate with a discreet finish. Perfect as an aperitif and also to accompany fish dishes.
