Blackwoods 2012 Vintage Dry Gin
This is a stunning hand crafted 40% vintage gin inspired by the beautiful nature of Shetland Isles, and possibly the world’s first vintage gin! Each year, the weather conditions dictate when to harvest the botanicals meaning with each vintage, the botanicals used change slightly dependent on the quality and quantity available. The Shetland botanicals are infused with juniper and coriander, plus other botanicals including lime, to give this dry gin its complex flavour. The botanicals are steeped in natural mineral water to release their flavours before distillation in small batches using a traditional copper pot-still.
Blackwoods Vintage Dry Gin is an award-winning gin which has beaten many a well-known gin in the process, and it’s easy to see why when you try it. Channel your inner mixologist and treat yourself to a Shetland Storm:
3 cucumber slices
15ml Rosemary syrup
10ml lime Juice
Sprig of rosemary
25ml Tonic Splash of Soda
In a cocktail shaker add cucumber, rosemary syrup, lime juice and muddle the ingredients. Then add Blackwoods gin and fill with ice. Add shaker top and shake well before straining into a tall glass, fill with ice, add tonic and top up with soda. Add a sprig of rosemary and lime to garnish.
About the BrandShetland is a natural world where the wildlife is truly wild. It has a rugged beauty with continuously changing colours, textures and weather. The island is situated off the north coast of Scotland towards Norway, resting 60° north. This is where the North Sea collides with the Atlantic Ocean giving it an oceanic climate. This causes long winters and beautiful short summers, although because the Shetland lies so far north it enjoys a ‘summer dim’, where summer days can last up to 19 hours. An incredible backdrop for an incredible gin.
